Executive Director
Position Summary
The Executive Director serves as the chief executive officer of the Salado Chamber of Commerce and is accountable to the Board of Directors. This role provides strategic leadership, operational oversight, and community representation to advance the Chamber’s mission and support the economic vitality of Salado.
Financial Management
- Oversee the Chamber’s overall financial health and operations.
- Develop an annual operating budget, with Finance Committee approval, outlining projected revenues, expenses, and net profit goals.
- Direct and assist in developing fundraising strategies and capital campaigns.
- Monitor and report on the Chamber’s fiscal condition to the Board.
Personnel Management
- Manage Chamber staff, including hiring, termination, performance reviews, salary and benefits administration, and general supervision.
- Coach and develop the internal leadership team to achieve consistent, high‑quality performance.
- Implement continuous improvement initiatives and create efficient business practices and organizational structures to optimize results.
- Establish internal performance metrics and key indicators to monitor staff activity and progress toward goals.
- Foster a culture of excellence, collaboration, accountability, and professionalism.
- Oversee recruitment and training of interns to meet organizational needs.
Operations and Governance
- Oversee daily Chamber operations, including programs, staffing, membership, and marketing.
- Collaborate with the Chair to prepare agendas and materials for Board and Executive Committee meetings.
- Develop and recommend goals and objectives for Board approval.
- Serve as the Chamber’s principal spokesperson and ambassador.
- Represent the Chamber at business and community events and meetings.
- Build and maintain partnerships with local organizations, government entities, and other Chambers.
- Support Chamber officers and committees, fulfilling responsibilities assigned to the President under Chamber by‑laws.
- Attend Board and committee meetings, providing staff support and guidance.
- Participate in high‑level membership and sponsorship sales efforts.
- Identify and develop new revenue‑generating programs and events.
- Oversee planning and execution of Chamber events.
- Ensure Chamber policies are followed and priorities align with member needs and community economic goals.
- Maintain open communication with the Board and bring issues forward promptly.
- Implement marketing strategies to promote a positive Chamber image.
- Cultivate strong relationships with city, county, and state agencies, neighboring Chambers, and the Texas Association of Chambers of Commerce.
- Develop and execute long‑range plans to advance the Chamber’s mission.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the Board of Directors.
